What I Do

Hands of person in a therapy session

The pandemic has been tough for everyone, has deeply affected lives and significantly challenged our mental health and wellbeing. Now, more than ever, it has become more crucial to consider how we can best look after and improve our mental health by taking the key step of starting a therapy.

A talking therapy is an effective, research-based way to explore how worries and problems can be practically contained and dealt with. My practice is based on the development of a safe and confidential therapeutic relationship, so you will receive maximum support when taking the first steps towards recovery.

The process:

  • An initial assessment appointment, to discuss the best options based on your needs.

  • We will decide the most suitable therapy based on your problem, your goals and agree a number of sessions set at your pace.

  • With children and young people, whenever possible, I work very closely with them and their parents together utilising appropriate discussion tools and frameworks.

Therapy types:

  • If you experience a mood, worry, trauma or eating disorder linked to how you think, feel and behave, then Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy is the best option. Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy is a very versatile and effective, time limited intervention. The number of sessions depends on the specific problem which will be discussed at our first appointment. Further information can be found here.

  • If you experience a mood problem, or trauma, or eating disorder, linked to relationships, then Interpersonal Psychotherapy is the best option. Further information can be found here.

  • If you experienced a damaging trauma that you find difficult to talk about, then EMDR ( Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) can help. Further information can be found here.
