I can work with individuals who suffer from Eating Disorders. However, individual work at a very low weight or purging is unsafe in private practice.
I would therefore recommend referral to Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services or or to Adult Eating Disorders Services.

If you wish to see a positive improvement in your mental health and wellbeing, the answer is normally yes. Engaging in a talking therapy is an important transformative experience that requires motivation and readiness to change. The objective of a talking therapy is to regain personal empowerment and control over challenging emotions. We will discuss what therapy is the best option for you in our initial appointment.

Environment – a welcoming, comfortable, non-judgemental therapeutic space.
Safety – Your safety is paramount as without safety, therapy cannot take place.
Confidentiality – this is always maintained, and information is stored confidentially (I am registered with the ICO) unless there are risks posed by your difficulties. In this case, some information may need to be shared with your GP.
A no obligation initial consultation – to explore your difficulties, patterns of thoughts, behaviours, feelings, or interpersonal relationships that can contribute or exacerbate mental health difficulties and consider the best course of action to treat them.
Talking about challenging experiences – This can be tricky and will be done at your pace. However, it is important to consider readiness to talk about such experiences. It might be uncomfortable to start off with, but it will become easier and lead to sustained changes.
Understanding difficulties in depth – Recognising patterns that make your problems worse and utilising effective, research-based interventions to reduce your symptoms.
An agreed course of therapy – Every client will get a course of therapy tailored to their needs established from the initial consultation.
Practice at home what is learned in session – We learn by doing, I always aim to work with clients so they can come up with their own ideas as to how to practice what learned in therapy, at home, in between sessions.
In vivo sessions – I can offer sessions in a real life environment (exposure sessions for phobia are best conducted in real life situations).

It cannot be overstated that talking therapy requires time, energy and commitment. Change takes time and patience, especially when talking about feelings which to some people is not easy and will come at the pace set by each individual.
